Health Tip

Childhood immunization has helped to reduce disease.

Because children are vaccinated according to a standard schedule, diseases which were once prevalent are now almost extinct. That does not mean, however, that routine immunization is not necessary. Some of these diseases are still common in other parts of the world and could unwittingly be brought into the country by a traveler. Also, the small number of people who can't be vaccinated for medical reasons are protected from these diseases because the rest of the population has been vaccinated and, therefore, will not pass one of these diseases along to them.
