Health Tip

Millions of Canadians suffer from hayfever.

People with mild to moderate hayfever can minimize their discomfort by adopting some relatively simple strategies. Antihistamines, taken properly, can relieve some of the more annoying symptoms. Decongestants may prove helpful. Cover your mouth and nose with a mask when you are working outdoors. Air conditioning and air purifying systems, particularly in the bedroom, can help you get a good night sleep. In addition, women with longer hair might consider washing it before they go to bed at night. Pollen grains that have been trapped in the hair during the day are rubbed off on the pillow at night. Discuss this problem, as you would any other, with your health care provider.
