Health Tip

Choose the doctor that's right for you.

It's important that you find a doctor whose expertise you trust and with whom you are comfortable. Family and friends can be helpful in providing a referral. When phoning for a first appointment you might ask the receptionist what the office hours are, how much time the doctor allows for a routine appointment, and how after-hours calls are handled. Because you want to get a sense for the doctor's approach, you might want to ask the doctor how he or she feels about patient education and participation. Or, you may have a list of specific questions relating to your own situation which you would like the doctor to address. Make sure the doctor you choose is right for you.
