Health Tip

Take medicine exactly as directed.

Prescription medication is accompanied by instructions that will improve the efficiency of the drug and minimize negative side effects. Read the label on the bottle to determine the size of the dose, the frequency of the dose, and any additional instructions. For example, some medication is taken on a full stomach; other medication must be taken on an empty stomach. It is important that you follow these instructions, and important that you complete the course of medication as prescribed. Antibiotics that are prescribed for a 10-day period must be taken for the full 10 days, even though you may start feeling better earlier. If you have any questions, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
